Hair Ideas for Thick Hair That Look Extra Large
1. Side Pull Through Braid
How great is this voluminous braid? It’s also crazy easy to do. Pull through braids may seem a bit complicated, but once you get the steps down, you can do it in your sleep, or at least during a rushed morning. Make the braid more interesting by doing a side pull through braid. Just have some Dove Style+Care Strength and Shine Flexible Hold Hairspray on hand to set your style.
2. Mini Half-Up Top Knot
If you’ve got voluminous curls for days, show them off! But, if you are in dire need to get your hair out of your face, try a mini half-up top knot. All you need to do is separate a three to four inch section of hair at the top of your head. Then, take that section and turn it into a top knot!
3. Unicorn Braid Ponytail
How amazing is this fun unicorn braid? This style is great for thick hair because your braid will look super voluminous. Just create a French braid all the way back, but keep out the sides of your hair. Pull the rest of your hair into a ponytail. Finish the style by bobby pinning the braid to the pony tail holder. Simple and super chic.
4. Extra Voluminous Blowout
Blowout hairstyles usually make your hair sleek, not necessarily thick. We like to do at home blowout hairstyles every now and again. To get this super thick look, when you are done drying your hair, do some light teasing up the sides.
5. Defined Natural Curls
Naturally thick curls are our favorite. Just wear your hair as is in a defined curly style! We like to use the TRESemmé Flawless Curls Defining Gel to get your curls absolutely perfect. Then follow up by drying your hair with a diffuser attachment.
6. Dutch Braids
Want to update your French braided pigtails? Go for Dutch braids instead! These easy braids are the exact same just braided under instead of over. Master this look by checking out our tutorial on how to create Dutch braids.
7. Half Up Bouffant
For a look that’s totally voluminous at the roots, try out this cool mini bouffant half-updo. Really all you need to is tease the crown of your head. Then, style your hair into a half-updo! Add a bow to make this look extra sweet.
8. Loose Space Buns
Most space bun hairstyles are totally round and stick out like animal ears! We’re loving this loose space buns look for a change of pace. To create this hairstyle on thick hair just part your hair all the way down the center. Create two buns, but instead of finishing your style with hair ties, pin them in place instead. It creates a thinner, less poofy bun. Need more hair ideas for thick hair? Check out these non-boring styles for thick curly hair.
