There is no doubt that this idea would be incomplete without the adorable printables designed by Carisa at Messes to Memories! She created the most perfect heart-themed printables to pair with this heart-y breakfast!
First, print out the printables. Cut out the card and write your own sweet message inside. The day before your breakfast, plan out your grocery list and collect the following supplies:
Fruit Sides
Strawberries Bananas
Heart-Shaped Egg Toast
Whole Wheat Bread Eggs Butter
Healthy Pink Smoothie
2 Cups of Strawberries 1 Cup of Raspberries ½ Banana 2 Peeled Mandrin Oranges (or one peeled regular orange) 2 Medium Sized Carrots (peeled) 1½ Cups Coconut Water
- A little something special for the treat box!
My family LOVES these super healthy muffins! Banana bread would be another great option.
Banana Love Note Now that you have everything you need, you’re ready to get to work! The day before your breakfast, prepare your banana with a love note. The idea is super simple. We all know that bananas start to get speckled brown as they age. By piercing the skin of a perfectly ripe banana, you can write a message on the peel of the banana, making it brown only in specific spots, while keeping the insides fully edible. Grab a small needle or thumb tack and poke very shallow holes into the peel. Once you have a rough outline of your message with the little holes, use the needle to connect the dots and finish your message. If you want to see some super talented banana tattooing in action, check out this video for a full tutorial (and some serious inspiration)!
Heart Kabobs and Heart-Shaped Egg Toast Grab some skewers and strawberries. Cut out the strawberry stem and cut the strawberry in half. curve the edges nearest the stem into the top of the heart shape. Line your heart strawberries up on your skewer and voila! The cutest kabobs ever! The toast with the heart-shaped egg inside took a bit of practice. Confession: I’m no master chef. If you are you probably don’t even need instructions for such a simple three ingredient breakfast. However, if you are like me and a video tutorial is the only way to survive in the kitchen, check out this full recipe and tutorial from a real pro. I would definitely recommend grabbing a heart-shaped cookie cutter—I definitely underestimated how difficult it would be to cut a heart out of bread!
Healthy Pink Smoothie So pink and so delicious! The best part is that even though this smoothie is super sweet, it comes with no guilt (or super sugared up kids) attached, it’s super healthy! Simply pop all of the ingredients into the blender, blend until completely smooth, and pour into a cute cup or milk jar! Cut and attach the drink labels and this smoothie is ready to be enjoyed!
Treat Box The treat box is such a cute addition to the breakfast set up! Cut it out, fold on the lines, and attach the flaps to the corresponding sides with tape. The box is just big enough for a muffin, or another small treat! These are our favorite morning muffins, plus the cranberry color adds nicely to the red and pink Valentine’s theme!
Your spouse will LOVE getting a healthy start to their day with this delicious, heart-y Valentine’s Day breakfast! More importantly, they will feel so special seeing the effort that you put into filling their day so full of love! There will be no doubt that this Valentine’s Day breakfast was made with love.
