	Natural Hair Blow Out Tips

1. Start with clean hair.

The number one key first step to a good blow out natural hair is to start with freshly washed and conditioned hair. We like to do this for several reasons but the biggest one is that it makes product application and detangling much easier. Because a blow out can be drying for your hair we suggest going in with an extra hydrating shampoo and conditioner combo like the Suave Professionals Sulfate-Free Cleansing Shampoo for Natural Hair and Suave Professionals Moisturizing Curl Conditioner for Natural Hair. This strong duo formula works to hydrate and nourish your hair, making it feel smooth and soft.

2. Hydrate and protect.

While your hair is still wet, it’s a good idea to detangle. You can do this with your fingers or by using a wide-tooth comb. Once you’ve gotten all the major knots out of your hair, apply leave-in products like the Suave Professionals Honey Infusion 10-in-1 Leave-In Conditioner. Besides being super-hydrating, it also works as a heat protectant, which is super important to use before you blow out your natural hair.

3. Section off your hair.

To make your life so much easier, divide and section off your hair. You can use alligator clips or soft hair ties to do this. We suggest to create at least four sections (or more) if your hair is extra-long or thick. Keeping your hair in sections makes it easier to concentrate the heat as well as makes this process way more workable.

4. Choose the right tools.

When you’re drying your hair you’ll need a good hairdryer and hairbrush to help you get the straightened look. We suggest using a hairdryer that has multiple settings for both heat and speed and using a round brush. Our favorite for curly hair is the Ibiza Ex5 Round Hair Brush that can hold your hair with nice tension without causing knots.

5. Take it slow.

Now you’re finally ready to blow out natural hair! Apply some heat protectant throughout your hair, and then grab your first section. Place your round brush on the top of your hair as you work it down to the bottom of your hair. Then, wrap the ends of your hair around your round brush and bring the section up towards your crown. Apply the heat to this section as you slowly release the brush, thus apply the heat as you release. Repeat this on this section (and throughout your other workable sections) until you achieve your desired straightness.
